The Creamsicle Quilt is playful, colorful, and impossible not to smile at. Created to use up loads of my colorful scraps (okay, and a few new pieces), it’s a fun and controlled scrappy layout.
The design calls for three color families and a neutral, but you can mix freely within each family to get a fun, scrappy effect — or stick more strictly to the six colors in the diagram for a cleaner look.
However you choose to sew it, you’ll have fun with your fabrics and will be a HST pro by the end!
About the Design
The Creamsicle Quilt uses three color families plus a neutral background to create its signature concentric diamond layout. You have two ways to approach it:
Go scrappy — mix freely within each color family for a playful, stash-busting effect that gives every quilt its own personality. Or work with the six specific colors shown in the diagram for a cleaner, more graphic look.
Either way, you'll end up with a quilt that looks like it took far more skill than it did.
The pattern also includes inspiration for alternative colorways, including a four-color-family version using a fat quarter bundle, a prints-instead-of-solids approach, and a fully scrappy interpretation using whatever you have on hand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this pattern good for a true beginner? Yes! The entire quilt is built from one block type — the half-square triangle — using the straightforward 2-at-a-time method. If you can sew a straight seam, you can make this quilt.
Can I use scraps instead of yardage? Absolutely. The pattern includes guidance for using scraps in place of yardage. You'll need pieces large enough to cut down to size using the cutting charts provided.
What if I want to use a different HST method? You can use any method you prefer. Just note that the yardage calculations are based on the 2-at-a-time method, so if you switch methods, increase your block yardage by at least ¼ yard per fabric.
How many HSTs does the quilt require? 294 total. The pattern breaks these down by color combination so you can plan and batch your sewing efficiently.
Is this an instant download? Sure is! Your PDF will be available immediately after purchase. No waiting, no shipping. Any
